Welcome to Teacher Imaginarium where the possibilities are endless.
Green Education
One of the goals of Teacher Imaginarium is to educate, disseminate information,
and promote an awareness of environmental concerns. Here you’ll find information
and tips on protecting the environment. We encourage you to use our forum to network
and discuss issues related to the environment, and possibly derive innovative ways
of engaging your students in this effort. We hope that in some small way we can
inspire you to inspire your students to cause an effect that will one day save our
world.
Green Tips
- Recycling
Recycling involves the separation and collection of materials for processing and
remanufacturing into new products, and the use of the products to complete the cycle.
Do your part to reduce waste by choosing reusable products instead of disposables.
Buying products with minimal packaging (including the economy size when that makes
sense for you) will help to reduce waste. And whenever you can, recycle paper, plastic,
newspaper, glass and aluminum cans. If there isn't a recycling program at your workplace,
school, or in your community, ask about starting one. By recycling half of your
household waste, you can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide annually
- Global Warming
Green house gases, such as carbon dioxide, accumulate and trap heat in the atmosphere.
Scientists have determined that human use of fossil fuels is the main source of
excess greenhouse gases. Everyday activities such as driving cars, using electricity
from coal-fired power plants, or heating our homes with oil or natural gas, releases
carbon dioxide and other gases into the atmosphere. An accumulation of these gases
in the atmosphere changes the climate and alters weather patterns, which influences
the length of seasons, causes coastal flooding, and leads to more frequent and severe
storms
- Eco Friendly Homes
Start educating your children about the environment and turn your home into an eco-friendly
home. Be an example. Follow the practices of reducing, reusing, and recycling.
- Use natural and environmentally friendly products, especially reusable’s.
- Have your children put recyclable containers in the recyclable bin.
- Encourage your children to watch movies with environmental themes such as Ferngully
– The Last Rainforest and Ice Age – The Meltdown
- Read books with your children that have environmental themes
- Get involved with local organizations that help protect the environment
